Former Armenian Deputy PM Armen Gevorgyan Calls For Pashinyan's Resignation
Former Armenian Deputy PM Armen Gevorgyan has called for Nikol Pashinyan and his government to resign and the creation of a transitional, interim government to stabilize the country.
Gevorgyan issued a statement today accusing Pashinyan and his government of lacking any moral legitimacy to govern, adding that each additional day of their rule not only increases internal tensions but also the risk of economic collapse and a breakdown of public administration.
Gevorgyan, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) has held various government posts over the years.
In 2018, he was charged with illegally pressuring Constitutional Court Judge Valery Poghosyan to validate the 2008 presidential election win of Serzh Sargsyan.
At the time, in 2008, Gevorgyan was chief of staff for then outgoing President Robert Kocharyan.
