Paris City Council Adopts Resolution Recognizing Republic of Artsakh

The Paris City Council today adopted a resolution on the recognition of the Artsakh Republic, this according to the Armenian Embassy in France.

The resolution, in part, reads:

At the suggestion of the Executive Body of the Paris Municipality factions United Paris, Communist and Citizen, Paris Environmentalists, Generations, Independents and Progressive, Change Paris, Modem, Democrats and Environmentalists, the council calls:

- for the Mayor of Paris to write a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Europe, urging France to recognize the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh),

- so that the French Government, by lifting the ban on the establishment of relations with Nagorno-Karabakh imposed by the local self-governments of France, will allow them to cooperate with Nagorno-Karabakh in the context of humanitarian aid,

- that the Paris city authorities, through a local operator, be able to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Nagorno-Karabakh by providing targeted assistance to the conflict-affected population,

- in order for the Paris city authorities to provide financial assistance in the amount of 50,000 Euros to the population of Nagorno-Karabakh and deportees who have found refuge in the Republic of Armenia. This assistance, provided through the French All-Armenian Fund, is complemented by a € 50,000 grant in advance through the Paris-based International Association of Francophone Mayors (FIMA-AIMF), a partner in Paris and a member of the FCCMA.
