Vagharshak Harutyunyan Appointed Armenia's Defense Minister

Vagharshak Harutyunyan has been appointed Armenian Minister of Defense, replacing Davit Tonoyan.

Harutyunyan was born in Akhalkalak, Georgia, in 1956.

Harutyunyan served as Armenian Defense Minister from 1999-2000. He was appointed an adviser to PM Pashinyan on August 19, 2020.

Harutyunyan was awarded the rank of Lieutenant General in 1996.
