
Armenian, Russian Defense Ministers Discuss Peacekeepers in Karabakh
Newly appointed Armenian Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan today, in Yerevan, discussed the situation in Nagorno Karabakh and the role of the Russian peacekeepers with visiting Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu.
The two ministers, according to a statement released by Harutyunyan’s office, stressed the importance of the exchange of dead servicemen, prisoners of war, hostages and missing persons, as well as the work of the Russian interdepartmental humanitarian center set up in Nagorno Karabakh that has been set up to facilitate the return of refugees and the restoration of civilian infrastructure.
The meeting concluded with Harutyunyan and Shoygu signing a package of documents regulating the scope of operations of the Russian peacekeeping detachment in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone.
