Armenian Foreign Minister, UN Secretary-General Discuss Humanitarian Crisis in Artsakh
Newly appointed Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan and Secretary General of the United Nations António Guterres spoke by telephone yesterday about the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh following the war.
Ayvazyan stressed the need to create favorable conditions for the repatriation of displaced Artsakh Armenians and the need for steps to protect their rights. Minister Ayvazyan provided Secretary-General Guterres with comprehensive information on the torture of prisoners of war and civilians under Azerbaijani control.
"Both sides emphasized the strict observance of international humanitarian law, human rights norms, and respect for Artsakh's historical and cultural heritage," the statement reads.
