Pashinyan Says People Will Decide Who Governs, Not Elites

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan today accused the previous regime and its supporters of actively attempting to regain power in Armenia.

Pashinyan, in a Facebook post, writes: “The elite, deprived of power in Armenia because of the 2018 revolution is trying to get revenge. Moreover, it is not only about the political elite, but all those who had privileges until 2018, but not after 2018.”

Pashinyan says that the people will be the final arbiter of who governs in Armenia and that he will afford the people all opportunities possible to express their will.

Many in Armenia decried yesterday’s arrest of Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan on charges of organizing an illegal rally to protest Pashinyan’s tour of the country’s Syunik Province.

"At the moment, the priority for us is to ensure the external security of Armenia and Artsakh, and in these actions, external security should not be questioned in any way," Pashinyan writes.
