Armenian President Armen Sarkissian today met with Democratic Party of Armenia Chairman Aram Sargsyan and the Deputy Chairman of the Heritage Party Gagik Margaryan to discuss what they described as the “current political and security crisis” in the country.

Aram Sargsyan and Gagik Margaryan said they supported the president’s proposal to form a transitional government of national accord and to hold special parliamentary elections.

President Sarkissian, according to a statement released by his office, stressed the need to resolve the situation in a legislative, constitutional way.

He said that he was ready to expand the debate format and assemble all political forces around the table.
