In an interview with RIA Novosti, Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan demanded that Armenian servicemen held captive in Azerbaijan should be immediately released and returned to Armenia without preconditions given that they are prisoners of war.

Tatoyan raised the issue following a December 31, 2020 statement by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev who described captive Armenian servicemen as terrorists and not POWs.
