Armenian Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan is in Moscow to take part in celebrations marking the Day of the Russian Prosecutor General.

Davtyan’s office, in a statement released today, says that he was invited to Moscow by Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov.

Davtyan, according to the statement, congratulated his Russian counterpart on the occasion, noting that the Russian Prosecutor's Office has a respectable 300-year-old history.

Davtyan noted that the high level of mutual understanding between the Armenian and Russian Prosecutor's Offices promotes active bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the fight against international crime, the effective implementation of mutual legal assistance structures, the mutual protection of the rights of citizens in each other countries and friendly relations.

Davtyan singled out the vital work of the Russian Prosecutor's Office within the framework of the service of the Russian peacekeeping forces in the criminal sphere in the Artsakh Republic.

The “Day of the Workers of Russia’s Prosecutor’s Office”, a professional holiday, was initiated by former Russian President Boris Yeltsin in 1995.
