French, Armenian Foreign Ministers Discuss Karabakh Issue

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and France, Ara Ayvazyan and Jean-Yves Le Drian, by telephone today discussed the post-war situation in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone, regional security and peace issues.

The two, according to a statement released by Ayvayan’s office, discussed the plight of Armenian POWs held by Azerbaijan and the need for more humanitarian aid.

One of the key topics discussed were the steps taken to preserve the historical, cultural and religious heritage of Artsakh in territories under Azerbaijani control, and the role of specialized international structures in that process.

Ayvazyan stressed the urgency of the issue given Azerbaijan's efforts to destroy Armenian heritage sites and distort their identity.

They two spoke about the resumption of the peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the forthcoming schedule of the Co-Chairs in this regard.
