Freed Anti-Pashinyan Protester Hospitalized
World boxing champion Israyel Hakobkokhyan, one of the five individuals arrested at a January 28 anti-Pashinyan protest in Yerevan, was rushed to hospital today after suffering a heart attack.
Hakobkokhyan lawyer Gor Saghoyan told Hetq that his client underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
On January 31, a Yerevan court rejected a motion filed by the Investigative Committee to detain the former boxer.
Hakobkokhyan, who won the world light middleweight title at the 1989 Moscow world amateur boxing championship, staged a hunger strike last summer in Yerevan to protest operation of the Amulsar gold mine and other domestic issues.
