Yerevan was witness to a bizarre spectacle today against the backdrop of a deepening political impasse between those who support Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and those who label him a “traitor” who must resign.

On Baghramyan Avenue, where the anti-Pashinyan Homeland Salvation Movement (HSM) has blocked  the main artery to traffic since yesterday, a group of anonymous “actors” staged a mock performance entitled Ceausescu’s Execution or the Death of Traitors.

The symbolism seems obvious.  Whether the HSM sponsored the performance is unknown.
