The Armenian Ministry of Health reports that the number of people in the country infected with the coronavirus is on the rise.

During the last 14 days 7,858 new infection cases were registered, an increase of 125% as compared to previous two weeks (3,487 cases).

The ministry reports that as of March 18, 2021, 181,165 cases have been registered in Armenia, of which 9830 (5.4%) received treatment, 167,186 (92.3%) persons recovered, 3,301 cases resulted in death. The mortality rate is 1.8%.

The rate of infection reproduction (7 days) as of March 16, 2021 is 1.48, which means that if both the population and businesses do not follow safety rules - wearing a mask in an open area, disinfecting hands/washing with soap, maintaining a social distance of at least 1.5 meters - some 6,820 new cases of the disease will be registered in the next 7 days, which is about 69% of those receiving treatment today.

Of the 4,965 individuals tested yesterday, 586 tested positive and sixteen people died from Covid-19.
