
Armenian Parliament Fully Adopts Bill to Increase Insult/Slander Fines
The Armenian National Assembly today fully adopted, at its the second reading, a bill to increase compensation fines for insult and slander.
A fine of up to 3 million drams will be imposed for insult and up to 6 million drams for defamation.
The current law stipulates up to 1 million drams for insult and 2 million drams for defamation.
The bill was introduced by NA Vice Speaker Alen Simonyan.
The government opposed the bill, noting that such fines should be reduced.
