Artsakh Officials Say Country Can Never be Part of Azerbaijan

Artsakh National Assembly President Artur Tovmasyan and Vitaly Balasanyan, Secretary of the Artsakh Security Council met in Stepanakert today and discussed the country’s security situation.

The two, according to a statement released by the Artsakh National Assembly, said that the status of Artsakh remains unresolved and that the country faces depopulation if it becomes a part of Azerbaijan.

Tovmasyan stressed that these issues and the current Azerbaijani occupation of some 40% of the country must be negotiated under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The two agreed that Azerbaijani destruction of Armenian cultural sites in the country must be raised on the international level.
