PACE Election Monitoring Mission Arrives in Armenia
A Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) delegation has arrived in Armenia to conduct a monitoring mission in the run-up to the May 6 parliamentary elections.
The delegation, led by Baroness Nicholson (United Kingdom), is due to meet the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, President of the National Assembly Samvel Nikoyan and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, as well as leaders of the political parties in the running.
Talks are also scheduled with the Armenian delegation to the PACE, the Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Tigran Mukuchyan and with representatives of the diplomatic corps, civil society and the media.
A full 28-member delegation from the Assembly will return to the country to observe the voting before making a final assessment.
