Armenia, Iran Sign MoU to Facilitate Trade and Business

Armenian Acting Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan and Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami yesterday, in Yerevan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that envisages setting up a joint working group to study the procedures hindering trade and economic relations and make proposals on their elimination.

The two also discussed the launch of new direct flights between Armenia and Iran that have the potential to spur tourism between the two countries.

A wide range of issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting, according to a statement released by the Armenian Ministry of the Economy, including investment attraction, construction of an industrial settlement with the participation of the Iranian side, improvement of logistics infrastructure, simplification and regulation of procedures in the cargo transportation process, as well as rates for Iranian transit cargo through Armenia.
