Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan today announced that 211 new CNG (compressed natural gas), buses will ply the streets of the Armenian capital within the next six months.

A municipality statement says that a contract to purchase the 8.6-meter-long buses has been signed.

The statement does not specify the cost of the buses nor the manufacturer.

Marutyan touted the buses as environmentally friendly.
