Vazgen Manukyan Calls for Pashinyan's Replacement as Acting PM

Former Armenian PM Vazgen Manukyan, the Homeland Salvation Movemnet’s erstwhile candidate to lead a transitional government in Armenia, today issued a statement that any future government must void all written and verbal agreements reached by Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev on modifying the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

“I suggest that all the forces participating or not participating in the elections unite urgently, and try to change the acting Prime Minister, which will ensure the cancellation of Pashinyan's illegal agreements, depriving Azerbaijan of justifying its aggression with those agreements and promises,” Manukyan’s statement reads.

Manukyan places the blame for the current crisis in Armenia on PM Nikol Pashinyan, describing his government as “weak, ignorant and treacherous.”

Manukyan also says he’s perplexed by the response of the Armenian armed forces, arguing that their “constant retreats will lead to a bigger war in less favorable conditions.”

Pointing to today’s capture of six Armenian servicemen by Azerbaijani forces, Manukyan calls on the Armenian military to “take responsibility for the defense of the country.”
