Armenian HRD Calls for Border Security Zone

Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, in a Facebook post today, said that any Armenian-Azerbaijani border demarcation and delimitation process must not disrupt the normal life of residents and will be illegal if it does not take into account human rights and the rule of law.

“Boundary and delimitation can take decades. The rights of the border residents of the Republic of Armenia cannot be violated for decades, and the lives and safety of the people cannot be seriously endangered. Therefore, before the end of these processes, a security zone must be created to guarantee the rights of the people,” wrote Tatoyan.

He said that border demarcation with Azerbaijan directly impacts the vital rights of every person living in Armenia, the entire Armenian people - life and existence, national and personal dignity, peace of mind and physical security, pursuit of happiness and many other rights.
