Catholicos Garegin II Travels to Artsakh

Catholicos Garegin II, following his trip to Syunik, paid a three-day visit to Artsakh on June 4.

The Armenian Apostolic Church Patriarch, accompanied by AGBU President Berge Setrakian, was met at the border by Artsakh Primate Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan and Russian army chaplain Father Boris Grishin.

Catholicos Garegin II then travelled to Stepanakert’s Fraternal Cemetery and was met by Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan and other government officials.

After placing a wreath at the eternal fire and paying tribute, His Holiness prayed for the comfort of the souls of the Armenians who died in the Second Artsakh War. Accompanied by the country's leadership, the Armenian Patriarch visited the graves of the fallen soldiers.

The church leader visited the Amaras Monastery in the country’s eastern Martakert Province.
