Serzh Sargsyan: “If I were commander-in-chief, I’d shoot myself”

Former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, in the accompanying video, says that if he were the current Commander-in Chief of the Armenian Armed Force, he would shoot himself.

Sargsyan, making the sign of the cross in front of supporters in the town of Jermouk, refered to the death of 5,000 Armenian soldiers in last year’s war, the presence of Azerbaijani troops on Armenian soil, and a diminished army.

“If he had this much dignity, he’d shoot himself,” Sargsyan said talking about the current military chef.

Sargsyan said that while he “hates war”, one must not fear taking military action when necessary.

Sargsyan, President of the Chess Federation of Armenia, was in Jermouk for a chess tournament.

The alliance is composed of the Republican Party of Armenia and the Homeland Party.

Sargsyan chairs the Republican Party but is not running for office on the alliance’s slate in the June 20 early parliamentary election.
