National Conservative Movement of Armenia Leader Calls on Women to Get Involved in Politics

Karin Tonoyan, running for Armenian prime minister in the June 20 snap parliamentary election on the “5165 National Conservative Movement of Armenia slate, handed out copies of a personal message today in Yerevan outling the party's platform and calling on woman voters to get in involved in the political process and to vote.

"I gave the most precious thing to my homeland, but I decided to stand up and raise the flag of my dead son. The future of our country will be decided on June 20. I am asking you to go to the polls and not let them decide the future of our children instead of us,” Tonoyan’s message reads.

Tonoyan, Director of the Hay Aspet - Military Patriotic Education Fund and TV program host, lost her son Menua Hovhannisyan, a special operation’s unit commander, in last year’s Karabakh war.

Menua Hovhannisyan has been posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Artsakh.

(5,165 refers to the height, in meters, of Mt. Ararat)
