Armenian Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Armen Grigoryan and Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation to Armenia, Thierry Ribo met today in Yerevan and discussed the plight of Armenian POWs held captive in Azerbaijan.

Grigoryan, according to a statement released by his office, said Armenia totally rejects the fabricated Azerbaijani criminal cases initiated against the them since they have the status of prisoners of war and must be protected under international humanitarian law.

The minister called for the immediate repatriation of Armenian POWs illegally detained in Azerbaijan.

Grigoryan referred to the humanitarian situation created by Azerbaijan's offensive against Armenia's sovereign territory, expressing concern that the continued presence of Azerbaijani forces in Armenia disrupts the normal life of the population living in border areas and violates their rights.

Ribo reported about ICRC steps to ensure communication between the prisoners and their families and the work done in the border areas.
