
Pashinyan Hints at Possibility of New Lockdown as Coronavirus Cases Rise
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan today called for increased monitoring of mask wearing in enclosed spaces given the 35% rise of new coronavirus cases in the country last week.
Pashinyan addressed a working group of officials, including the Minister of Health, tasked with drafting a new set of restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus.
The prime minister hinted that a new lockdown would have to be ordered if the preventive steps are not successful.
Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said that 4,702 people have died from the disease so far and that of the 929 people now undergoing treatment, 100 are listed in very critical condition.
The Ministry of Health reported 357 new coronavirus cases overnight and the death of eleven from the disease.
