Status of Nagorno Karabakh Remains Unresolved, Says U.S. Ambassador to Armenia

U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy said today that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict has not been resolved because its status remains to be decided.

“We will continue to work as an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair to deescalate the situation and eliminate incidents from these positions so that it is possible to consider the remaining issues, the post-war situation and other issues,” Tracy told reporters in Syunik province according to an ArmenPress report.

Regarding security issues and incidents along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, Tracy said she, as well as the U.S. State Department, have publicly commented on these matters and made their positions known.

“You probably know that in July I visited a border section in Gegharkunik where there has been tension and violence. Let me make very clear. We are calling for de-escalation and a separation of forces so that the violence ends as soon as possible,”, Tracy said.
