Armenia's New National Airline to be Called "Fly Arna"

Armenia’s new national air carrier, a joint venture of the Armenian National Interests Fund (ANIF) and Air Arabia, will be called Fly Arna.

The name was chosen by the joint venture’s board of directors from more than 500 proposals received from participants of the Name the Airline contest. The word "Arna" is derived from the name Armenian National Airlines.

Air Arabia Adel CEO Adel Abdullah Ali, according to a statement released by the joint venture, remarked: "We believe the new name reflects the aspirations of the people of Armenia, is the result of national participation, emphasizing the commitment of our joint venture to the priority of the public interest."

Fly Arna will operate as a budget passenger airline based in Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport.

The ANIF, established in 2019, is a state-owned enterprise tasked with consolidating and managing the ownership of Armenian state-owned enterprises and promoting export growth and investments in Armenia by providing co-financing in large-scale projects at their initial stage of development.
