Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has again condemned Azerbaijan for committing war crimes in the 2020 Artaskh war and has called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

Tatoyan, in a statement issued today on the first anniversary of the war, did not elaborate on what such justice entails and who would dispense it.

“Civilian settlements were destroyed by targeted Azerbaijani attacks using banned weapons. Armenian churches were desecrated and destroyed,” Tatoyan writes, adding that during and after the war, civilians and soldiers were tortured and brutalized with the help of foreign mercenaries.

"As long as the perpetrators are not brought to justice, the policy of hatred and enmity will continue, the danger of atrocities will be real, and the peaceful and secure lives of the people will be disrupted,” Tatoyan’s statement reads.
