Armenian President Marks China's National Day; Calls for Greater Technological Cooperation
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian today visited the Chinese Embassy in Yerevan and congratulated Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Fan Yong and the embassy staff on the National Day of the People's Republic of China.
The holiday commemorates the formal proclamation of the establishment of the People's Republic of China on October 1, 1949.
"I am here to express my respect and friendship to the people of China. Armenia highly values relations with China," Sarkissian said according to a statement released by his office.
Ambassador Yong thanked Sarkissian for visiting the embassy.
"This is one of the examples of our friendship, and it shows that you are making efforts to build a strong bilateral relationship," Yong said.
The two discussed bilateral relations, opportunities for deepening cooperation, and the intensification of contacts between the two peoples and the strengthening of ties.
Sarkissian noted that China has proved that every country, every nation, based on its national peculiarities, culture, heritage, traditions, must find its own way of development and achieve success through challenging, organized and disciplined work.
"At this difficult time for our country, we can find our own path to development and success, using our strengths, such as the potential of the diaspora, the potential for technological development," Sarkissian said, adding that there is great potential for technology cooperation with China.
