
Armenian President In Scotland for COP26 Climate Conference
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian left for Scotland today to attend the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).
Heads of states, climate change experts, business and civil society leaders will participate in discussions to develop an agreed action plan for combating climate change.
Sarkissian, according to a communique released by his office, is scheduled to address the conference.
According to Worldometer, which tabulates worldwide CO2 emissions, Armenia ranks 132nd out of the 209 countries surveyed, with 0.01% of the worldwide share of CO2 emissions in 2016. This is an increase of 3.06% over the previous year.
The leaders of Russia and China, two major CO2 (carbon dioxide) emitting countries, will not attend the conference.
