Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan today, in Yerevan, met with PACE Monitoring Committee Co-Rapporteurs Kimmo Kiljunen (Finland, SOC) and Boriana Åberg (Sweden, EPP/CD).

The PACE officials are in Armenia to monitor the obligations and commitments made by Armenia.

Issues related to post-war realities, democracy, human rights and legislative reforms in Armenia were discussed at the meeting, this according to a statement released by Simonyan’s office.

The parties discussed the need to resume the Karabakh conflict negotiation process within the OSCE Minsk Group framework.

They also discussed the restrictions placed on journalists covering the parliament and the parliamentary system of government in Armenia.
