Armenia: Pashinyan Sacks Defense Minister

Armenian Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan has been dismissed from his post and replaced with Suren Papikyan (photo).

The move follows recent escalations along the eastern Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

Papikyan, who had been serving as Deputy Prime Minister, has no military background.

He’s Chairman of the Board of the ruling Civil Contract party.

As long as the so-called "superpowers" are in vehement competition to pull Turkey (quasi owner of Azerbaijan) to their side, Azerbaijan will act with impunity. The main concern of Eastern "superpower" is not to harm its so-called "pragmatic relationship" with Turkey. When Azeris shoot and kill Armenians in presence of Russian "peacekeepers" Russia stays silent, however, when the brother of the killed civilian acts out of rage they detain him. Russian authorities even don't care about their own citizens when it comes to their "pragmatic relationship" with Turkey. The "pragmatic relation" with Turkey even forced Russian authorities to abandon their national pride and dignity. They stayed "pragmatic" (read passive) even when their military jet was shot down over Syria (2015), or when their ambassador to Turkey was assassinated in Ankara (2016), or when Turkish/Azeri forces shot down a military copter over Nakhijevan and murdered two Russian servicemen (2020). And despite all of these, Russia invited Turkey to monitor the "ceasefire" in Artsakh. Disgusting politics, eh? On the other hand, the Western "superpowers" stand idle and watch because they are so preoccupied with Azerbaijan's dirty oil and also with keeping the only Muslim member of NATO in their camp. Armenia's 1000s of years of culture and civilization mean nothing for the "superpowers" (Eastern & Western alike) when it comes to their INTERESTS. Thus, in today's geopolitical situation, nobody will help Armenia except Armenian people, who need another SARDARAPAT and/or MUSA DAGH and a leader like Armenian hero MONTE MELKONIAN (RIP) who once said: “We do not believe in benevolent friends, the inevitable triumph of justice, or covertly and cleverly manipulating the superpowers. If we are to achieve national self-determination, then we ourselves, the Armenian people, will have to fight for it. We believe in the power of organized masses and in the capacity of our people to determine their own future. We believe in revolution.”

As long as Pashinyan is a PM, Armenia will continue to go backwards fast.
