Through the mediation of European Council President Charles Michel, Azerbaijan today handed over ten Armenian POWs to Armenia.

Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Vahan Hunanyan confirmed the news, reported earlier by the Azerbaijani Trend news agency.

Trend reports that the ten POWs were captured on November 16, 2021 during fighting along the Syunik section of the eastern border of Armenia.

The release of the Armenian POWs follows the December 14 Brussels meeting of Michel, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
