French conservative politician Valerie Pecresse, the likely challenger to French President Emmanuel Macron, has visited Armenia.

Pecresse, who heads the Ile de France district of Greater Paris, has met with Armenian President Armena Sarkissian, Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan and Catholicos Garegin II.

Earlier this month, far-right French politician Eric Zemmour visited Armenia.  

A recent poll shows Pecresse leading Zemmour and Marine Le Pen and thus the likely candidate to challenge Macron in the April 2022 presidential runoff election.

Zemmour was not received by any high-ranking Armenian official. He did meet with several ruling Civil Contract MP.
