The Armenian Ministry of Health reports that registered cases of acute respiratory infections have increased throughout the country, especially in the provinces of Yerevan, Ararat, Gegharkunik, Tavush and Kotayk.

According to monitoring carried out by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention the number of cases is 2․2 times higher than the epidemic threshold, and two times higher than the same period of the previous year.

Children under the age of fifteen appear most susceptible.

During the last four weeks, 76 cases of influenza A type H3 virus were confirmed in the laboratory within the framework of field epidemiological control, thirty of which were among pregnant women.
