The Turkish Pegasus airline has applied to Armenia’s Civil Aviation Committee for a permit to operate Istanbul-Yerevan-Istanbul flights starting in February.

Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure spokesperson Sona Harutyunyan confirmed the news to ArmenPress.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, on December 20, announced that flights between Istanbul and Yerevan were expected to start within a few days as part of the reopening of transportation links in the region.

Pegasus wants to operate two flights per week.
