Turkish Foreign Minister Says Armenians Welcome Normalization Talks
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, at a press conference on January 18, said the Turkish and Armenian special representatives discussed what each side expects from the normalization process during their first meeting in Moscow earlier this month.
“The goal is full normalization. Armenians are also very pleased with this. In the process leading to full normalization, apart from the start of flights and the appointment of special representatives, what other steps can be taken will be studied,” Çavuşoğlu said according to Hürriyet.
Çavuşoğlu said the special representatives, at their next meeting, will work on what steps can be taken following the resumption of flights.
He said that the special representatives will discuss confidence building measures in the run-up to the next meeting.
The first meeting of the special representatives of Armenia (Ruben Rubinyan) and Turkey (Serdar Kılıç) was held on January 14 in Moscow.
