
Eurasian Development Bank to Provide Armenia $1.7 Million for Energy-Saving Programs
The Eurasian Development Bank will provide $1,719,200 worth of assistance to Armenia under an agreement the Armenian government signed today.
The main goals of the program are:
In twenty public buildings (schools, kindergartens, hospitals) the level of energy savings will increase by 50%, which will lead to an annual saving of 3000 Mwhof electricity and a reduction of 700 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
Establishment of infrastructure services providers and development support.
Increase awareness among energy representatives of at least twenty regional administrative bodies on the mechanisms of attracting energy saving loans and energy efficiency.
The main political goal of the proposed program is to support Armenia in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (in particular, ensuring access to modern, sustainable, reliable, inexpensive energy sources for all, cities, housing, sustainability, security ensuring, taking urgent measures to combat climate change and its consequences).
