2021: 76 Soldier Deaths in Armenia, Artsakh

The Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor (HCA-V) NGO in Armenia today published its findings on the deaths of servicemen in the armed forces of Armenia and Artsakh in 2021.

The HCA-V says the data were collected based on information disseminated by the media, official sources, as well as responses to inquiries.

Accordingly, 76 servicemen were killed in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh in 2021:

The causes are listed as:

19 - violation of the ceasefire regime,

17 - health problems

15 - car accidents

11 - murders

9 - suicides

5 - accidents (1 avalanche, 1 lightning strike, 1 car crash, 1 tree collapse, 1 sudden death.

Two of the 19 servicemen who died because of ceasefire violations were injured in October-November 2021, during the war, and died the following year

Six servicemen died in November 2021 during fighting along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

 In 2020, 100 non-combat soldier deaths were registered in Armenia and Artsakh․
