Armenia’s National Assembly today unanimously voted in favor of a bill mandating that the Armenian flag be constantly raised at all national, regional and local government offices, public schools and universities, state agencies, sports and cultural organizations and other state agencies.

84 MPs backed the bill introduced by opposition Hayastan MP Aghvan Vardanyan.

Applause broke out in the parliament when the votes were counted.

The bill, if signed into law, would also fine those who violate regulations regarding the proper raising and lowering of the flag.
