Armenian Government Not Planning to Discuss Recognition of Donetsk, Luhansk People's Republics

Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vahan Hunanyan said today that the government is not planning to discuss the question of recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.

“There is no such issue on the agenda,” Hunanyan told the Armenpress news agency.

He said that Armenia would like to see the problems between Russia and Ukraine, which he described as “friendly states”, resolved through diplomatic dialog in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, the UN charter.

“We hope that the necessary steps will be taken to reduce tensions and resolve the situation peacefully,” Hunanyan said.
