Pashinyan, Blinken Discuss Developments in South Caucasus, Karabakh

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, today by telephone, discussed developments in the South Caucasus and in Nagorno Karabakh and stressed the need for stability and peace in the region.

The two, according to a statement released by Pashinyan’s office, said there is a need for a comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

Pashinyan thanked the U.S. for its consistent support of democratic reforms in Armenia and said the further strengthening of democracy is a priority of the Armenian government.

Pashinyan and Blinken exchanged views on the demarcation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, the reopening of transportation links between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the ongoing dialogue between Armenia and Turkey.

Reference was also made to international developments including the war in Ukraine.
