Armenian Foreign Minister, U.S. State Department Official Discuss Karabakh developments
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried discussed regional security issues during a telephone conversation.
Mirzoyan, according to a statement released by his office, briefed Donfried about ongoing Azerbaijani violations of the Karabakh ceasefire and warned that such actions threaten regional stability.
Mirzoyan told Donfried that Azerbaijan is using psychological intimidation and other tactics to ethnically cleanse Artsakh of Armenians and stressed the need for a targeted and clear response from the international community, including the United States. Mirzoyan presented Armenia’s position on the launch of peace negotiations with Azerbaijan.
The two officials also discussed ongoing between Armenia and Turkey.
