Artsakh State Minister Welcomes Russian Defense Ministry Statement

Artsakh State Minister Artak Beglaryan reports that the country’s Security Council addressed to a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding recent Azerbaijani aggression along the eastern Line of Contact.

Beglaryan says the letter seeks to draw Putin’s attention to the fact that the aggression is taking place in an area under the responsibility of Russian peacekeepers.

“We expect that due to Russia's efforts the consequences of this aggression will be eliminated, and the Azerbaijani troops will be withdrawn to their starting positions. In this regard, the clear statement of the Russian Defense Ministry yesterday is welcome,” Beglaryan’s statement reads.

The Russian Defense Ministry yesterday called on Azerbaijan to withdraw its troops to their previous positions.

The letter also proposes that the functions and mechanisms of the Russian peacekeeper be expanded so that they have all the necessary means (including military) to effectively guarantee the security of the people of Artsakh.
