Armenian Foreign Minister Urges CoE to Support Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Process

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, at today’s 132nd Ministerial Session of the Council of Europe in Turin, reaffirmed the Armenian government’s commitment to normalize relations with Azerbaijan and underscored the role of the OSCE Minsk Group to advance the process.

Mirzoyan accused Azerbaijan of using force in 2020 to resolve the Karabakh conflict, describing the war as a violation of accepted norms.

“It’s been a year and a half since those horrible times, and Azerbaijan claims that the Nagorno- Karabakh issue is solved, and they are ready for peace,” Mirzoyan said, adding that Baku must understand that Nagorno Karabakh is not only a piece of territory but a people whose dignity should be respected.

Mirzoyan also called on the CoE, within its mandate, to actively support genuine and constructive negotiations to normalize Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
