Armenian, Azerbaijani Deputy PM's Meet Along Border to Discuss Demarcation
The deputy prime ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Mher Grigoryan and Shahin Mustafaev, met today at an unspecified section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to discuss demarcation and security matters.
Today’s meeting is based on agreements reached earlier by the two countries to set up a joint commission to demarcate the border and to work for regional security.
The Armenian foreign ministry reports that the two officials agreed to meet in Moscow and later Brussels.
Russia proposed the creation of a joint Armenian-Azerbaijani border commission in May 2021.
At the time, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan said he’d agree to the creation of a joint commission to demarcate the border, but only after all Azerbaijani troops leave Armenia territory.
Azerbaijani troops remain within the borders of Armenia.
