Armenia Committed to Fighting Climate Change, Deputy PM Tells British COP26 Ambassador

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan, at a meeting today in Yerevan with British Ambassador to the 26th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Climate Change (COP26) David Moran and UK Ambassador to Armenia John Gallagher, said that Armenia plans to increase solar energy usage by 15% by 2030.

Matevosyan, according to a statement released by his office, said that Armenia is committed to the global fight against climate change and has prioritized the transition to electric powered vehicles.

Ambassador Moran praised Armenia's efforts to join the global climate change struggle and noted that the Interdepartmental Coordination Council for the Implementation of the Requirements and Provisions of the Paris Agreement are good examples of such efforts.

The Council convened after the officials met.
