Armenian Foreign Minister, EU Special Rep Discuss Regional Issues

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Toivo Klaar, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, met today in Yerevan and discussed implementation of agreements reached at the May 22 meeting in Brussels between EU Council President Charles Michel, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Agreements were reached on further steps to open transportation links in the South Caucasus and to jump start the work of the border demarcation and security commission.

Mirzoyan, according to a statement released by his office, presented Armenia's position on the establishment of regional peace and stability, the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and reaffirmed the need to resume the work of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

Mirzoyan said Azerbaijan’s continuous attempts to destabilize the situation in the South Caucasus via belligerent statements and border provocations were unacceptable.

EU Delegation to Armenia Head Andrea Wiktorin (2nd from left) attended the meeting.
