Pashinyan, Lavrov Meet in Yerevan: Regional Security, Karabakh Conflict Settlement on Armenia's Agenda

Prior to his meeting today with a delegation led by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan’s office released a statement saying the two discussed bilateral relations and that Yerevan main issue on the agenda is related to regional security and the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

“Of course, we are discussing this issue, and others, with Russia quite intensively. The opening of regional transportation links is another issue,” Pashinyan is quoted as saying during the meeting.

Pashinyan expressed the hope that Yerevan and Baku will reach specific agreements to resolve the issue soon to achieve regional peace and stability.

Pashinyan said he expects Russian support to facilitate the return of Armenian POWs and other detainees now held in Azerbaijan.

Lavrov is quoted as saying that Russia is interested in the complete normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and will do everything possible to facilitate a mutual agreement between Yerevan and Baku.

Lavrov said Russia will consult with Yerevan and Baku regarding the demarcation of the border separating Armenia and Azerbaijan.
