Yerevan public bus drivers will have to undergo periodic medical examinations according to a recent Yerevan Municipality decision.

The municipality says the exams are designed to ensure passenger safety.

According to the Yerevan Municipality website, 525 buses operate on 37 routes in the capital. About 340 buses run daily. The bus routes are serviced by Yerevan Bus CJSC and fifteen private companies. 

In 2020, 37.7 million passengers traveled by Yerevan buses, a drop of 55.3% from the previous year. The drop is most likely due to the coronavirus outbreak.
